Movie is more of a simulated but almost real 5.1 sound. Direct will output surround sound as the director intendent it to be. Meaning, if there's supposed to be sound coming from the rear surround speakers, you will hear sound coming out of them. If no sound should be heard then you will not hear anything. With movie on the other hand, it simulates the sound so you will hear sound coming from the rear speakers even though you shouldn't. I had it set to: Surround Sound > ON, EQ > Direct, DTS Virtual:X > OFF, DTS TruVolume > OFF. You will need to adjust the levels for the Bass, Treble, Dialogue, Center Channel, Surround Level & Balance, and the Subwoofer. I can not tell you how much to increase each one since your room size and placement of the speakers will not be the same as mine. Just keep in mind when you increase the Dialogue, it's not the same as when you increase the Center Channel. Dialogue increases the dialogue from all the speakers where Center channel increases the dialogue coming only from the center channel. Something to play around with to see what sounds best for you. Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

One more thing. Make sure that your audio output of your TV is set to "Pass through".

@@DJsTutorials I looked through the menus under setup (gear thing) assuming that there would be some way to set which input is selected at power-on, but I didn't go deep enough. I The location of the item you demonstrated here is awkward and not really intuitive - I would expect it to be near the A/V preferences like brightness, color balance, audio controls, etc. I suspect that Amazon deliberately buried the default input selection so that people would continue to see all of their marketing stuff on the Fire home screen.

What is connected to the input you are trying to switch to? If it is a game console, cable box, or DVD/Blu-ray player, try adding it to Equipment Control ( Go to Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Add Equipment) and then say, for example: "Switch to Blu-ray".

​@@DJsTutorialsI've got the same problem as the other guy it works for volume and power for my TCL TV works but I can't switch inputs mainly so I can switch to my playstation. When I do what you've said it says receiver or soundbar what do I do from there and want brand should I use same as TV? Please help.

@@dennisgoatimer1079 When you go to "Add Equipment", you should see "PlayStation" as an option to select to add. Choose that, and as you will see on the right side description, all you have to do after you finished setting it up, just say "Switch to PlayStation". Let me know how it goes.

@@DJsTutorials It's not there after I go to add equipment it's just receiver and soundbar then it asks what brand just like it did for the TV bit.

@dennisgoatimer1079 if you don't see it that means there's either one already set-up under "Manage Equipment" or another console like Xbox in there. You will need to remove it first in order to add the Playstation

@@raynaldomorris555 Try adding the PS4 in Equipment Control. Go to Settings > Equipment Control > Manage Equipment > Add Equipment. Make sure to set which input the ps4 is connected to on the TV like HDMI 2 for example. Once that is setup, try saying "Switch to PS4"

Appreciate it! One thing I like about Roku TVs is it has a permanent setting instead of last input. Even when it updates, when you turn it on, it goes straight to the input you set it to. Maybe, and this is a big maybe, Amazon will eventually offer that option.

It shouldn't mess up the speaker. I would do a Speaker Test first. It's under Setup > Speaker Test > OK. Also, check the Level for the rear speakers that it's not too low. Also check the other settings, like EQ if it is set to Movie or Direct (I prefer Direct) Surround Sound is set to ON and Virtual:X is OFF.

It may have to do with the Bluetooth device that you have is not compatible with the Fire Stick. Not all devices work with it unfortunately.

You can try plugging it in another HDMI port and if that doesn't work check the USB port with another device to see if there's power. Use like a cell phone

Lets do process of elimination. Power your Fire Stick from the wall outlet to see if it works from there.

That is a possibility. You can try unplugging all the cables from the Fire Stick, even the HDMI extension, and let it sit for a while and then plug everything again. Sometimes that helps.

You will need to that within the Fire Stick Manage Equipment settings. Add "Apple TV" in Equipment Control and let the Fire Stick know which HDMI input Apple TV is connected to like HDMI 2. Then you can say Switch to Apple TV instead of HDMI 2.

Only thing I can think of causing that to happen will be the batteries are low on the remote. Also, have you updated the firmware for the soundbar?

Can you elaborate more on that? What would be the reason to use a Roku player if they do not have a Vizio TV.

@@DJsTutorials Roku devices support both Dolby and DTS audio, and using the Roku audio settings, you could choose which sound system to use if what you're watching uses it.
